First Rector Rev. Pierre Robert 1656-1715
While visiting a plantation in South Carolina during a family vacation,
we saw a sign pointing to St-James Santee Episcopal Church. It was on
a dirt road, and somehow, that picked our interest, so we followed the
sign. We went into the church, in there we found a marker to the
memory of Pierre Robert, their first pastor. I immediately realised
that this was my husband's ancestor. It was quite a moving moment for
us. The church has been moved, so it's not the building he knew then,
but they still remember him 3+ centuries later. I have a picture of
the marker, if anyone wants it.

Eventually, the Robert family became the Robarts family and made its
way to Liberty County.
