Thank you for your order of one or more copies of the Quarterman family history book,
Families Helped Build America:We are happy to say we are almost finished with production on the book.
Quarterman Family of Liberty County, Georgia
and Relatives
We are unhappy to say that we will not be finished by the end of this year. Some of you have asked whether you will have your books in in time for Christmas 1996. Unfortunately we must say that we can not get them to you by then. We expect to get the book to the printer in January 1997 and to ship copies to you in February 1997.
We apologize for this delay.
Why is this taking so long? Well, our family has in the past been quite prolific, and following it backwards and forwards as far as we have has produced a rather massive tome. The work involved has been more than we anticipated. We thank all of you and all of the others who have contributed to it.
In addition to the size of the book, we are attempting to produce a quality book. As you know, we are using several technical innovations, such as numerous computer-generated genealogical charts, photographs scanned and cleaned online, and a copious index by both maiden and married names.
Here are some current statistics on the book:
29 | Chapters |
935 | 8.5x11" pages (we're trying to shorten it) |
c. 8,000 | individuals |
c. 554 | family groups |
543 | figures and tables, of which |
475 | are genealogical charts |
20 | are photographs |
more than 100 | bibliographic references |
76 | page index |
more than 366 | years of history |
We hope you will find the book worth the wait. In any case, we do apologize for the delay, and we wanted to inform you of the status of the project.
