My mom, Ima Day (dau of Ethel Quarterman), remembers her great-Aunt Iowa well. She was eight years old when Aunt Iowa died, and the pastor's message at the funeral had a profound effect on Mom. It seems Aunt Iowa was a great favorite with our branch of the family.

P.S. I wonder if she whistled for the soldiers. My grandmother, Ethel, farmed in Flemington (one of the "retreat" towns), and she used to whistle my grandfather in from the fields for supper.
