Good point. I've changed it like this:

VE Day
1945, 7 May
German leaders surrender to Eisenhower
in a schoolhouse in Rheims, France, east of Paris, where French
kings were traditionally crowned.

VE Day (Soviet)
1945, 8 May
German surrender documents signed a second time in Berlin,
at request of the Soviet Union.
