According to tradition,
John Quarterman Sr., b. 1738, S.C., emigrated to Georgia 1752-54, d. 31 May 1791 Liberty Co., Ga., is buried under this oak tree. If he ever had another marker, the tree long ago absorbed it. Midway Church is visible in the background, with its steeple. |
