   1848:  Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo, [2]Mexico cedes California and New
   Mexico,  including  parts  of  Nevada,  Utah,  Arizona,  Colorado, and
   Wyoming,  and accepts international boundary at the Rio Grande. Mexico
   receives  15 million dollars and is relieved of all claims of citizens
   of the United States against it.
