   1492: Columbus discovers Hispaniola,

   1695:  Darien  Directors  summoned  by  Lords, London Directors of the
   Company are ordered to appear before the Lords.

   1695:  Settlers sail from Dorchester, Mass., `` `December 5, 1695, the
   church   for  Carolina  set  sail  from  Boston.'  on  the  brigantine
   Friendship,  Captain Hill.'' -- church records, quoted by Stacy in his

   1699:  Darien  to  Jamaica, Agree to send 500 men and all the women to
   Jamaica.

   1933:  Prohibition repealed, AMENDMENT XXI Passed by Congress February
   20, 1933. Ratified December 5, 1933. Section 1. The Eighteenth article
   of  amendment  to  the  Constitution  of  the  United States is hereby
   repealed. Section 2. The transportation or importation into any State,
   Territory,  or  Possession  of  the  United States for delivery or use
   therein  of intoxicating liquors, in violation of the laws thereof, is
   hereby prohibited.
