When Martin Luther nailed his 95 debating propositions to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenburg, he was not expecting to start a revolt, although in effect he did.  If he had been planning a revolt, the 95 theses would have been in German but they were in Latin because he was looking to debate them with other priests.
