Quarterman Dates

   1835: Battle of Gonzales, Texans repelled a Mexican force sent to
   disarm them. The Texans won subsequent victories against troops led by
   Mexican strongman Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. In 1836, the
   [2]Republic of Texas was established, remaining independent until
   1845. Today was the start of the Texas Revolt.
